My career involved sales and structuring aspects of risk management and financing solutions at Citigroup, Bank of America and Standard Chartered. Most recently, I was a Managing Director at Citigroup responsible for manging a highly successful Corporate Solutions initiative, based in London. Launched in 2013, the initiative developed a product agnostic solutions team to work across various product functions such as capital markets, project finance, derivatives, credit, accounting policy. The effort resulted in innovative risk management and financing structures, that are value accretive, both from the firm’s clients and shareholders’ point of view.
Previously, I was the head of Sales and Structuring business for Middle East and Africa at Citigroup. In addition to helping clients navigate through extremely turbulent markets, I spearheaded the effort to implement in Basel III regime within the CEEMEA business. This experience was to become the precursor to reinventing structuring business, ultimately resulting in the launch of the Corporate Solutions initiative.
Prior to moving to London in 2011, I headed the Middle East and Pakistan region at Citigroup, managing foreign exchange flow and derivative structuring business. I led the rapid growth of Citi’s business in the region while making sure that clients continue to manage their risk management activities prudently. I also set up sales and structuring business for Standard Chartered, Bank of America and Citigroup in Pakistan. Working with the regulators, I led the effort to develop derivatives markets. The effort saw Central Bank in Pakistan implementing a regulatory frame work for the derivatives activity that then helped both corporates and financial institutions efficiently manage their risks.
